Alcohol use disorder individuals struggling with this disorder often
feel they cannot function without the use of alcohol. Abusing alcohol
can bring about a lot of health issues including cancer and death.

Binge Drinking

Binge drinking is defined as a pattern of drinking that brings blood alcohol to .08 usually 4+
drinks for women and 5+ drinks for men within 2 hours of drinking. Binge drinking increases
harm to the drinker by blackouts, overdoses, falls, burns, drowings, car accidents, and death.
Binge drinking happens with every 1 out of 6 adults with 25% of that number binge drinking
weekly. Annually 17 billion drinks are consumed binge drinking which evens out to an average
of 467 drinks per binge drink

High-Intensity Drinking

High-Intensity Drinking is defined as twice the intake levels of binge drinking.
High-Intensity Drinking is most common in college students and peaks around
age 21. This pattern of drinking is of high concern because of the health risks
that arise.
